2021 – Introduction of a new shareholder

CIMIC signed an agreement with Elliott Advisors to invest in 50 per cent of the share capital of Thiess, providing joint control of Thiess to CIMIC and Elliot.

2021 - North American establishment

Thiess expands to North America, opening an office in Salt Lake City, Utah, following the announcement of our first mining services contract in the region.

2021 - Dual-fuel technology

Thiess partners with Mine Energy Solutions to bring lower emission, dual-fuel technology to its mining fleet, the first for a mining services provider in the industry.

2022 - Thiess Rehabilitation

Thiess launches a new standalone rehabilitation business to the market - Thiess Rehabilitation, having delivered award-winning rehabilitation programs globally for more than 30 years.

2022 - Thiess acquires MACA

Thiess acquires international contracting group MACA to diversify operations across commodities, geographies and services.

2023 – Autonomous mining milestone

Thiess makes history at Pembroke Resources’ Olive Downs Complex - the world’s first mining operation to deploy Cat® MineStar™ Command for hauling and Command for drilling solutions simultaneously.

Across our operations, Thiess’ autonomous fleet totals 21 autonomous haul trucks, nine autonomous drills and six semi-autonomous dozers

2024 –Thiess Group acquires PYBAR

We acquire underground metals mining specialist PYBAR, expanding our services capability to re-enter the Australian underground market once more.
